Grants

Graduate students

25 graduate students who submit an abstract will get a stipend which will pay for their meals:

Graduate students whose work falls within the scope of the conference and who wish to present their work as a poster may apply for a stipend of SFr 400 (which will pay for all their meals on Monte Verita), by submitting the abstract of their contribution to Thomas Bally. The number of such stipends is limited to 25 and the deadline for applications is March 1, 2018. If more than 25 applications are submitted, those which fit in best with the conference will be chosen.

Scientists from Eastern European Countries

We  offer some limited support to students and young colleagues from the New Independent States in Eastern Europe  who wish to present their work.

The Swiss National Science Foundation offers, through its SCOPES program SFr 1000 stipends for young (<40 year old) scientists from Central and Eastern European Countries (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine) who wish to present their work at conferences held in Switzerland.
Preference is given to scientists who do not hold permanent positions, but who are nevertheless liable to make a valid contribution to the conference. The stipends will cover the local costs and a contribution to the travel expenses.

If we receive applications for such stipends (a maximum of 10 are funded for each conference), we will submit an application to the Swiss NSF.

Colleagues from the above listed countries who wish to apply for one of these stipends shold send (a) a detailed CV and (b) the abstract of their intended contribution to Thomas Bally. The deadline for applying for these stipends is December 31, 2017.
